LEAN TOOL WORKSHOPS
|
Lean Office Overview Seminar |
Latest statistics from DTi suggest that UK is falling behind the rest of Europe in it’s ability to derive benefit from Lean. Whilst Manufacturing has benefited considerably the office has been largely ignored when the potential payback is phenomenal. |
There's always something preventing you doing what you feel you should be doing; costs too high, performance & quality low, resulting in doing jobs twice. Not exactly what you want with competition trying to take your business. |
|
Objectives Deployment |
This concentrated 2 day seminar ensures company objectives are identified and cascaded into appropriate tasks & targets monitored within a structured environment. |
Objectives Management |
Highly focused half day overview of objectives deployment method, review and reporting systems, providing an understanding of the principles and process control philosophy |

Workshop based programme over 2 days on how to implement basic workshop housekeeping and controls. |
Poka Yoke –Mistake Proofing |
Shop floor and classroom based 2 day programme explaining theory and actual practical application of poka yoke processes to foolproof production and administrative processes. |
Problem Solving -7 Tools/Deming Cycle |
Classroom based course over 2 days, utilising ‘The 7’ tools and PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) approach to resolve 'real' problems in the workplace. |
LEAN OFFICE STRATEGIC AWARENESS -Overview
It's estimated 80% of the electronic files on office servers haven't been accessed in more than a year. Still, office workers continue to request more PC disk space, filing cabinets, even buildings! Frustrating approval loops constrain the information flow, cause unnecessary delays on work that is nearly complete.
These and other problems are costing you money, making you inefficient and where it’s not costing you customers, the internal frustrations will be losing you staff.
Lean offices outperform the traditional office in Quality, Delivery, Cost and Morale. Reducing errors, cycle time, expenses; improving morale these will all drive shortened delivery times, reduced inventory levels and increased sales capacity.
This intensive 3 hour seminar provides directors and senior management with a strategic overview of Lean in the Office; defining examples of office waste, opportunities for savings togther with lean philosophy and what UK business can do to ensure they adopt a measurable results based approach in the workplace.
Office waste isn’t easy to see, so it’s harder to find. Delivered by Bryan Woods, this seminar shows you how to achieve a lean office with NO additional costs, time or labour.
This highly interactive seminar is your opportunity to ask specific questions your organsiation may have prior to beginning any implementation of Lean in your Office.

Define Lean Thinking
| The pursuit of continuous elimination of waste in all areas. |
Three Biggest Problems In Adoption
| 1) Training and allowing empowerment of people who’ve previously had little input or control in their roles. |
| 2) Eliminating fear of changeat all levels |
| 3) Communicating the image of what is possible to Management |
Three Problems In Maintaining Lean
| 1) Management of lean programme transfer from consultant to employees, at consultant exit point, ie, the creation of lean 'ownership' within the business. |
| 2) Reduction in Management drive /interest over time - tendency to move onto 'next project' |
| 3) Providing/maintaining appropriate training to allow ongoing development of individual’s capability as lean thinking becomes more advanced within the business |
Challenges Of Lean In The Office Environment
| - Awareness of office politics; very important to involve the appropriate personnel from the outset. |
| - Minor office routines tend to be less documented than ‘shop floor’- need to ensure these are understood and documented before making changes. |
| - Office lean tends to remove paperwork/approvals, and bureaucracy and therefore remove individuals' authority which may be resisted if not managed correctly. |
| - Individuals tend to have more ownership and jealously protect their immediate work areas and possessions- as these often reflect status-care is needed. |
| - Changes in procedures etc in one area will often impact downstream- need to map the entire process under review to ensure single areas are not sub-optimised or even compromised. |
